About Midsomer Murders

Based on the crime-novel series by author Caroline Graham, `Midsomer Murders’ follows the efforts of Detective Chief Inspector John Barnaby to solve crimes that occur in the wealthy, isolated English county of Midsomer, a picturesque and peaceful place on the outside but one filled with amoral and snobbish eccentrics with all kinds of vices. Chief Inspector Barnaby is the younger cousin of DCI Tom Barnaby who retired in 2011. His right-hand man is Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter, who is young, keen, and smart as a whip. ‘Midsummer Murders’ is the UK’s longest-running contemporary detective drama, having aired on ITV since 1997.

With more than two decades of intriguing mysteries, Midsomer Murders is one of the most popular and longest-running mystery series of all-time and remains one of Acorn TV’s top performing franchises and a fan favorite.

Acorn TV will exclusively premiere the first two feature-length episodes of Series 22 beginning on Monday, April 19, 2021. Series 22’s remaining four feature-length mysteries will debut this fall shortly after production concludes. In Midsomer Murders, Detective Chief Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and Detective Sergeant Winter (Nick Hendrix) investigate homicides, blackmail, greed, and betrayal in England’s most murderous county. Subscribers can also watch the first 21 seasons of the series anytime on Acorn TV.
